Statement from Speaker Heastie

I have always been proud that the New York State Assembly's democratic majority has been one of the most diverse and dynamic legislative bodies in the country. Yesterday’s results are affirmation of the legislative accomplishments we have been able to secure. 

After all the ballots are counted, we anticipate having 111 members of the Assembly Majority, the largest majority in our state’s history. This proves that New Yorkers believe we are on the right track -- investing in affordable, accessible childcare, housing and healthcare, as well as our schools and higher education systems, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to climb the ladder of success.

I am eager to get to work with my colleagues in the Assembly to further ease the burdens on our families as we continue to put families first.
