Mayor Bill de Blasio and State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie met today at Ebbets Field Apartments in Brooklyn to discuss the urgent need to renew and strengthen rent regulations this legislative session and for more effective enforcement against violating rent laws. With more than one million rent-stabilized apartments in New York City at risk and thousands of units pulled out of regulation each year, the Mayor and Speaker committed to stemming the tide of deregulation and keeping neighborhoods affordable -- consistent with the State Assembly Majority’s longstanding advocacy and the Mayor’s Housing New York plan.

They were joined shortly after the meeting by local Assemblymember Walter Mosley, Tenant Association President Beverly Newsome and other longtime tenants. The group discussed the ongoing rehabilitation of Ebbets Field Apartments and ensuring the complex’s long-term affordability.
