Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) (right) is pictured accepting the "Second Amendment Politician of the Year" award from Bill Button, Chairman of the Yates County Chapter of the Shooters Committee on Political Education (S.C.O.P.E.). Kolb was honored for his advocacy of the Second Amendment and strong voting record in support of preserving and protecting the right to bear arms. The award ceremony took place on December 5, 2010 at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge as part of the Chapter's annual Christmas celebration.

On Tuesday, January 25, 2011, Kolb and the Assembly Minority Conference are sponsoring the second annual "Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day" in Albany in the "Well" of the Legislative Office Building. Guest speakers will include Wayne LaPierre, CEO and Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association (NRA); Stephen Aldstadt, President of S.C.O.P.E.; Tom King, President of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA); James A. Rabbia, Plant Manager for Remington Arms; and William Schwerd, Executive Director of New York State 4-H Shooting Sports.

The 2010 sportsmen's event was the first ever of its kind at the State Capitol, attracting nearly 3,000 enthusiastic sportsmen and Second Amendment supporters from across the state.

His receiving the Yates County S.C.O.P.E. award marks the third time in 2010 Kolb has been honored for his tireless advocacy of the Second Amendment. In June, Kolb was designated 2010 "Legislator of the Year" by the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA). In October, he received S.C.O.P.E.'s statewide "Sandra Lee Wirth Legislator of the Year Award." All three organizations hailed Kolb's unwavering advocacy of the Second Amendment and his consistent voting record in support of preserving and protecting every New Yorker's Constitutional right to bear arms.

S.C.O.P.E. is a Second Amendment Civil Rights Organization dedicated to the preservation of firearms ownership since 1965, and is an affiliate member of the NRA.
