Economic Development and Job Creation

Assemblyman Tom O'Mara is committed to improving New York's economy. That is why he is working to invest more state funds into economic development, lower taxes and cut bureaucratic red tape to promote a more business-friendly environment and, most importantly, create more and better paying jobs.

To strengthen New York's economy, Assemblyman Tom O'Mara is working to enact:

The Small Business Improvement Act: to help small businesses save time and money by cutting through red tape when dealing with state government and provide funding for improvements made to downtown and main street facades. (A.4694)

MEI Energy Credit: making manufacturers eligible to receive a two-tiered energy tax credit - $25 for maintained employees and $50 for increased employment. (A.3041)

Eliminate Corporate Franchise and Personal Income Taxes For Manufacturers (A.3048)

Community Colleges Workforce Development Program: will establish a program to allow community colleges to develop high-tech manufacturing job training programs to re-train displaced manufacturing workers. Additionally, the bill directs SUNY to provide 50 percent tuition reimbursement to students participating in this program. (A.5897)

Community College and BOCES Partnership Program: to create a partnership between community colleges and BOCES to establish a High-Tech Manufacturing Job Training Program. (A.5636)
