in Waterloo

“Waterloo is rich in heritage and small-town American values. It is only fitting we do all we can to continue that way of life by reducing taxes and creating an environment that secures the vitality of our community for tomorrow’s generation.”

– Assemblyman Brian Kolb

In Waterloo, Assemblyman Kolb:
  • Recently held a town hall-style meeting to be easily accessible to residents and town officials, and to discuss issues of concern with Waterloo residents.

  • Lowered the cost of gasoline by helping pass a state gasoline sales tax cap, saving motorists 4 cents per gallon at the $3 per gallon rate. Motorists will save an estimated $250 million or more over the next year. Savings would rise as the retail cost of gasoline increases because the sales tax cap is set at $2 per gallon.

  • Supported creation of a property tax rebate providing homeowners with meaningful tax relief. This rebate applies to homeowners who receive a STAR exemption, who can expect a rebate check worth 30% of their STAR benefit. The statewide property tax savings total an estimated $920 million.

Assemblyman Kolb continues:

  • Advocating further fuel savings through increased funding and support for alternative fuels, like ethanol, derived from Western New York agricultural commodities. Assemblyman Kolb knows alternative fuels reduce fuel costs through lower demand for gasoline, as well as provide a cleaner environment, more agricultural and manufacturing jobs, and greater national security through increased energy independence.

  • Listening to the needs of small-business owners and promoting continued economic development in the Waterloo area. Assemblyman Kolb supports measures to reduce small-business energy costs and taxes.

  • Sponsoring legislation to reform workers’ compensation and provide affordable health care for businesses and their employees.
