A lot has happened since I last wrote to you. The 2007 Legislative Session -
the first with our new Governor, Eliot Spitzer - has come and gone. It has been a
busy and productive year of compromises, accomplishments, and change. But one thing
that has not changed is our ability to pass on-time State Budgets. This year’s
being the third in a row.
Our community is rich in diversity and unique in its composition, and it is
important that we work together to accomplish goals that we all share: after-school
programs for our children; a quality education for our youth; affordable housing;
small business development; and improving our quality of life by keeping our
streets safe and our neighborhoods clean.
Together we must strive to maintain the beauty of our community and to make certain
that it remains a place that we are proud to call home.
I look forward to working with you, and for you in the years ahead.
