Assemblywoman Millman Partners with Long Island College Hospital to Provide Free Flu Shots to Constituents

Last month, 200 constituents received free flu shots in the Brooklyn office of Assemblywoman Joan Millman, thanks to a generous donation of flu shots and nurses provided by Long Island College Hospital.

"With the winter months approaching and flu season on its way, it is a critical time for people to get vaccinated against this virus," said Assemblywoman Millman. "I am grateful to Long Island College Hospital for their support in making this public health service available to my constituents. I intend to offer free flu shots again next year, pending their continued availability."

Assemblywoman Millman Attends Brooklyn Public Library Ribbon-Cutting for the Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture

Assemblywoman Millman attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening of the Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture at the Brooklyn Public Library's Main Branch. At the ceremony, Assemblywoman Millman presented a pen certificate to the Board of Directors for Assembly Bill 9160, which she sponsored and was signed into law by the Governor this August. This law consolidates the Brooklyn Public Library's Board of Trustees and the Brooklyn Public Library Foundation into a single Board of Trustees, which will help the Library better reach its goals.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to present this Pen Certificate to the Library at such a momentous occasion-the grand opening of the long-awaited Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture," said Assemblywoman Millman. "I look forward to seeing the success of this facility in bringing various cultural events to our community."

Contribute to a Canned Food Drive to Benefit Victims of Domestic Violence

As Thanksgiving approaches, Assemblywoman Joan L. Millman is working with the Kings County District Attorney's Office and the Family Justice Center to coordinate food donations for domestic violence victims. Donations must be non-perishable and will be collected at Assemblywoman Millman's district office at 341 Smith Street in Carroll Gardens. Suggested donations include canned food, baby formula and baby food, pasta, crackers, dried fruit, cereal, rice, dried milk and juice boxes. Additional questions about the food drive may be directed to the Kings County District Attorney's office at 718-250-3739 or the Family Justice Center at 718-250-5083.

"I strongly encourage people to donate," stated Assemblywoman Millman. "No matter the size of your donation, it will make a difference in someone's life. With the assistance of the Kings County District Attorney's Office and the Family Justice Center this drive benefits some of the most vulnerable members of our community."

During Halloween week, Assemblywoman Millman attended several celebrations throughout the 52nd Assembly District and distributed treats to the trick-or-treaters.

Assemblywoman Millman proudly awarded Certificates of Merit to students of P.S. 58 who successfully completed the Assembly's Summer Reading Challenge.

Expanded Route on the Shuttle to Fairway Supermarket!

The free shuttle to the Fairway Supermarket in Red Hook, organized by Assemblywoman Millman, now includes an additional stop at the St. Charles Jubilee Senior Center in Brooklyn Heights. The shuttle now departs from Assemblywoman Millman's district office at 10:00 AM and makes a second stop at the St. Charles Jubilee Senior Center at 10:20 AM before arriving at the Fairway Supermarket in Red Hook.

"After the success of the shuttle from Carroll Gardens to Fairway, I am glad we also can include Brooklyn Heights residents," said Assemblywoman Millman. "I encourage my constituents to take advantage of this opportunity."
