Director Hurwitz explained the benefits of purchasing freshly-harvested, locally-grown produce. Not only does freshly-harvested food often taste better, it also retains important nutrients that are lost when produce is imported from long distances and sits in warehouses. Located on Carroll Street between Smith and Court Streets, the Carroll Gardens Farmers' Market is open for business Sundays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, July through November. Greenmarket is a non-profit program of the Council on the Environment of New York City that operates 44 markets in the City's five boroughs. |
