The proposed state budget has over

A Long Island family of four would pay an additional $1,812 in taxes:

$750 more in property taxes for Nassau County – already the second highest in the nation!
$485 more in state college tuition costs!
$102 in additional taxes on soda and other drinks!
$164 to pay down New York’s record-high debt!

Assemblyman Michael Montesano doesn’t believe in forcing a square peg into a round hole. He wants to cut taxes, reduce new spending, and repeal job-killing state mandates like the $1.5 billion MTA payroll tax on small businesses and the self-employed.

We cannot raise taxes when our economy is struggling, and we need a plan to create new jobs and strengthen our economy in order to get out of the worst fiscal climate in the state since the Great Depression.
