Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow), working in conjunction with the East Meadow Public Library and Nassau University Medical Center, will be holding a Flu Shot Program for senior citizens aged 60 and over and their spouses.
This program, for which there is no out-of-pocket expense to the senior, will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The location of this program is the East Meadow Public Library, 1886 Front Street, East Meadow.
“I encourage all who are eligible to take advantage of this important program,” said McKevitt. “Influenza has been shown to weaken the immune system, potentially leading to complications and more serious illnesses. For this reason, it is highly recommended that seniors receive a yearly flu vaccination.”
Registration to receive a flu vaccination is required. To register, please call Assemblyman McKevitt’s district office at (516) 739-5119, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., starting September 10. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Those with allergies to latex are advised to go to their physician or Nassau University Medical Center to receive their flu shot. Pneumonia shots also are available.
