Simpson Stands with Lawmakers and Residents to Address Migrant Crisis Failures

Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Horicon) shares the concerns of his fellow lawmakers and state residents over New York’s inadequacy in managing the ongoing migrant crisis. Simpson joined his colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference to introduce bill A.09167, which mandates notifying ICE of non-citizen arrests, reinstates maximum sentences for misdemeanors and repeals misguided “protect our courts” laws.

“The failure of national leaders to secure our borders has exposed New Yorkers to a humanitarian crisis. New York state's lax policies are putting our citizens at risk. Recent incidents of migrant assaults on law enforcement and the possibility of others being bused throughout the state underscore the need for action in the wake of public safety concerns. Bill A.09167 is a necessary step in restoring law and order,” said Simpson.
