Legislation Passed in the Assembly That Further Assist New Forest Cemetery
Albany – On Wednesday, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon’s (D-C 119) legislation (A1477) regarding the maintenance of cemeteries, passed on the Assembly floor which could further help New Forest Cemetery.
New Forest Cemetery faced many challenges and, in a meeting last year, hosted by the Assemblywoman and the Governor’s office, resulted in the authorization to form a new board.
This legislation has also passed in the Senate and the next step is to be signed by the governor.
“It was apparent the previous board made a positive impact but struggled with maintenance issues. The formation of the new board had requested this legislation be introduced to further their work at the cemetery.” Assemblywoman Buttenschon said, “Many families have their loved ones resting at New Forest Cemetery and they deserve a beautiful place to visit.”
