Flood Joins Congressman Marc Molinaro to Call for Independent Review of the NYSDOH Covid-19 Nursing Home Order

Assemblyman Ed Flood (R,C Port Jefferson) joined Congressman Marc Molinaro in the Capitol today to call for an independent review of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) COVID-19 nursing home order that was put into effect four years ago. This order forced nursing homes across New York to accept COVID positive patients. In response to this order, the state created the “Reimagining Long-Term Care Task Force” back in 2022 to study long-term care facilities. Today, this task force was criticized for its inaction. To show the damages these policies have done to the people of New York, the group was joined by “Voices for Seniors”. The stories showed the repercussions of the order by the NYSDOH as well as the lack of accountability taken by the state.

“It is unbelievable it has been four years since the COVID nursing home order. What angers me most is that thousands of people died due to this ridiculous order, and the departments responsible refuse to take any kind of accountability for their actions. We must continue to push for an independent review of this catastrophe and hold those accountable responsible for their actions,” said Flood.
