Friend: Assembly Finally Does The Right Thing On Human Trafficking

A statement by Christopher S. Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats)

Today, after two years of holding the bill hostage for political posturing, the Assembly Majority finally brought legislation to the floor to protect the victims of human trafficking and bring its perpetrators to justice. I am proud to have been a sponsor of this highly-important legislation dealing with this critical issue. We have finally come together as a legislature, and have helped to put an end to what amounts to modern-day slavery. This is an opportunity to come together with our broad, bipartisan consensus, and pass the remaining unanimously-supported seven women’s equality bills. Let us act swiftly and decisively when it comes to these remaining issues.
