Brook-Krasny Applauds Livestreamed Committee Hearings, Urges More Transparency
Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island) today applauded the long-awaited implementation of livestreamed committee hearings. This will allow the public to witness conversations and see how various lawmakers vote on important legislation before it goes before the full house for a vote. The measure was enacted in a bipartisan fashion in 2016.
“Today is a victory for transparency and good government in Albany. Legislators should never be able to hide behind their actions or votes in committee,” Brook-Krasny said. “Although this is a step in the right direction, it is unfortunate that a measure supported overwhelmingly by lawmakers took over six years to implement when the technology clearly exists. I am hopeful this will open the door for further transparency and openness in our chamber and our government.”
Brook-Krasny currently serves as the Ranking Minority Member on the Assembly Committee on Aging, which vets issues surrounding seniors and the elderly.
