Giglio Announces Grants For Local Libraries

Assemblyman recognizes the importance of local library grants

Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,I,C-Gowanda) today announced the grants that have been awarded to five local libraries totaling over $85,000. The five libraries that will be receiving these grants are Cuba Circulating Library, $2,771; David A. Howe Public Library, $44,000; Olean Public Library, $8,335; Portville Free Library, $4,300; and Randolph Free Library, $26,119.

“Over half of the libraries in New York State are over 60 years old. It is important that we take care of these staples in our community that offer a wealth of knowledge and opportunity to all residents,” stated Giglio. “I am proud of the money that we were able to secure for our area and look forward to seeing it put toward excellent use.”

In total, New York State will award $14 million in grants to be used for repair and upgrades, as well as new construction projects and for the purchase of new equipment.

“The historic libraries of our area offer a plethora of resources to community members,” stated Giglio. “I want to encourage members of the community to take a trip to their local library if they have not already done so and take advantage of the resources provided.”
