Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I – East Meadow) and Long Island Blood Services will be holding a blood drive:
2:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.
North Merrick Public Library
“I hold blood drives every year because only about two percent of Long Island residents who are eligible actually donate blood,” said McKevitt. “We need to ensure that Long Island’s blood banks maintain a large enough supply. I encourage all who are eligible to give the gift of life by donating blood today. Remember that your blood donation can save up to three lives.”
According to Long Island Blood Services, you must:
- Bring a valid photo or signature identification
- Weigh at least 110 lbs.
- Be at least 16 years old (16-year-olds need parental consent, and those 76 years of age and older need a doctor’s note)
- Eat well and be hydrated prior to your appointment
- Not have gotten a tattoo within the past 12 months (unless applied in New Jersey)
Appointments are required if you plan on donating blood. To schedule an appointment, please contact Assemblyman McKevitt’s district office at (516) 739-5119. Local businesses have donated prizes to be raffled off to all who come to donate blood, so make sure to stop by!
