Reaction to Governor Paterson’s 2010 State of the State Address
Statement from Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R, C, I – East Meadow)
January 6, 2010
I applaud Governor Paterson for recognizing the need for ethics reform and economic development in his 2010 State of the State Address. However, our primary focus must be getting state spending under control in the 2010-2011 state budget. Given the magnitude of this year’s multi-billion dollar deficit, and near-empty government coffers, we literally cannot afford for our leaders in government to play a game of political chess that uses Long Island taxpayers as pawns. We need to get to work immediately, in a transparent fashion, to make the tough choices needed to put our state back onto solid financial footing.
