Long Island Residents Score a Victory Against Tax-and-Spend Politicians in Albany
Statement from Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R, C, I – East Meadow)
November 16, 2009
“I’m pleased the $25 increase in license plate fees will no longer be going into effect. This was nothing more than another onerous tax on already overburdened Long Island residents.
I originally voted against this with the rest of the $12 billion in tax and fee increases included in this year’s budget because Albany politicians must stop spending beyond their means. The repeal of this misguided plan is proof of what we as New Yorkers can accomplish when we fight together against needless taxation.
I applaud all of the everyday citizens who stood up against this tax. This is a testament that well-intentioned grassroots efforts really can make a difference,” said Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R, C, I – East Meadow).
