Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,I,C – East Meadow) is looking out for his residents and making certain that you have received in the mail your application for the Middle Class STAR Rebate Program.
The Middle Class STAR Rebate Program is a program that provides direct property tax relief to taxpayers by sending rebate checks to homeowners from the State of New York for a portion of their school taxes. The Middle Class STAR Program will provide an additional $6 billion to the STAR program over the next three years, with this year totaling $1.3 billion.
“I urge all homeowners who are enrolled in the basic STAR program, who have not yet received their application, to please contact my office at (516) 739-5119. You are entitled to receive back your earnings from the State, and I will be happy to make sure that it is possible,” McKevitt stated. Those eligible for this program must have a household income of less than $250,000.
Rebate checks will be sent directly to your home address. Those senior citizens who already receive an enhanced STAR exemption on their property tax bills will receive their rebate checks automatically. The deadline to apply for your rebate is November 30, 2007. Please do not delay.
“I understand that the tax process can, indeed, be difficult at times. If you do not know if you are eligible for this program, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to help.”
