Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) today announced that he has nearly completed the first leg of his “Leaders of Tomorrow” tour throughout elementary schools within the 17th Assembly District.
“Talking to students in their classroom gives me an opportunity to see how our schools are educating our students,” McKevitt said. “It also affords me the chance to talk to children about the legislative process along with the vast and rich history of New York and the United States.”
McKevitt noted that many of the schoolchildren ask him many questions ranging from how a bill becomes a law, his role as their assemblyman, and questions surrounding legislation in Albany.
McKevitt began his “Leaders of Tomorrow” tour earlier this month in the Garden City Park-New Hyde Park school district. To date, McKevitt has visited the Manor Oaks-William R. Bowie School, the New Hyde Park Road School and the Garden City Park School.
“Each visit is a rewarding experience for me and I look forward to continuing my classroom visits throughout the 15 school districts that make up the 17th Assembly District,” McKevitt said.
