TITLE OF BILL:
 
An act to amend the state finance law, in relation to creation of the
teacher training initiative fund for autism; and making an appropriation
therefor
 
 
PURPOSE OF GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
 
To establish a fund that will be used to create a training program for
current or future teachers who have the responsibility of teaching chil-
dren diagnosed with autism.
 
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
 
The state finance law-is amended by adding a new section 95-ee
 
 
JUSTIFICATION:

Teachers who may have children with autism in their classroom or at
other times should have the proper training so that they are able to
understand and be aware of the proper teaching methods and care neces-
sary to provide a quality education for a child with autism.  These,
funds will allow for the creation of the most up-to-date teaching
program including the best techniques and practices for teaching chil-
dren with autism.
 
 
PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
 
A.5133 of 2021/22; held for consideration in Education;
 
A.4252 of 2019/20; held for consideration in Education;
 
A.2226-2017/18; held for consideration in Education;
 
A.2443-2015/16; held for consideration in Education;
 
A.4685-2014, held in Education.
 
 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
 
The sum of ten million dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
is appropriated to the teacher training initiative fund for autism as
established of the state finance law from any moneys in the state treas-
ury in the general fund.
 
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
