In his first speech as Assembly Workplace Safety Subcommittee Chairman, Assemblyman Rory I. Lancman argued for the passage of Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan's Farmworkers Fair Labor Practice Act (A.1867/S.2247), which would extend to farmworkers the same labor rights already enjoyed by the vast majority of workers. "This legislation protects farmworkers from injury and provides care for them when they are injured," said Assemblyman Lancman. After many hours of debate, the Farmworkers Fair Labor Practice Act successfully passed the Assembly, bringing it one step closer to becoming a law.
