The Governor's proposal on teacher evaluations is an important step to ensure that New York City's children will receive the resources they need to get a high quality education. While I am still hopeful that the city and the UFT can come to an agreement, putting in place a default mechanism to provide compulsory arbitration on this issue will prevent further budget cuts to our schools. I commend the Governor for developing an innovative solution so our teachers and schools can focus on what they do best - educating our children.
