Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (center) and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (right side of photo) joined Governor Andrew Cuomo at the Capitol today for the unveiling of SUNY Binghamton's NYSUNY2020 application to establish a new $70 million "Smart Energy" research facility on their campus. Silver and Lupardo applauded the proposed economic development initiative and academic enrichment plan. They noted that the Assembly Majority considers the state university centers "engines" of economic development and over the years has invested $15 million in high-tech research and development at SUNY Binghamton to improve the economy and create jobs.
