2011-2012 Joint Legislative Budget Hearing

Local Government/ General Government
Monday, February 7 - 10:00 A.M.

Senate Finance Committee Chair John A. DeFrancisco and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Herman D. Farrell, Jr. today announced the first Joint Legislative Hearing, in a series of 13 hearings will be held on Monday, February 7.

During the Local Government /General Government hearing, which marks the beginning of the legislative review process for the 2011-2012 Executive Budget, government officials and representatives of local government groups will have an opportunity to address the Assembly and Senate fiscal committees.

These joint legislative hearings will continue through March 3, 2011 and are available for live viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites and the Legislative Channel (available on cable systems throughout the state), but will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, live televised coverage of the hearings will resume.

Witnesses scheduled to testify include: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City Comptroller John C. Liu, New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Rochester Acting Mayor R. Carlos Carballada and Yonkers Mayor Phillip A. Amicone.

Testimony is also expected from New York State Conference of Mayors Executive Director Peter Baynes, Association of Towns Executive Director G. Jeffrey Haber, Ulster County Legislator Susan Zimet, New York State Property Tax Reform Coalition Legislative Liaison Officer John Whiteley and Peter Brothers, a concerned citizen.
