Statement on Historic Suffolk County Victory

The election of Marc Alessi is a historic victory. The voters of Suffolk County's First Assembly District elected a member of the current Assembly Majority for the first time in history. It is a tribute to Marc Alessi's campaign and his ability to articulate a message on the issues voters wanted to hear.

This big win clearly substantiates the reform initiatives we have sought and will continue to pursue in the house and in state government and also marks a strong repudiation of the failed policies of the Bush, Pataki and local administrations.

105 Assembly Majority members in 2005! This historic achievement is testimony to the hard work of Marc Alessi, to the strong, positive, issue-oriented campaign he waged and to the Assembly Majority's record of fighting for reform and working to ensure good schools, affordable health care and a growing economy.
