Statement from Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco
(R,C,I-Schenectady-Saratoga)

"Governor Eliot Spitzer today said that forthcoming federal tax rebate checks - which Congress approved and the President recently signed into law as part of a national economic stimulus package - will not be subject to state income taxes. We need the Governor to take the next step and deliver meaningful tax relief by making New York's property tax rebate check program whole by rescinding the proposed cuts made in the 2008-09 Executive Budget. Another positive step would be making the property tax rebate checks exempt from state income taxes, just as the federal rebate checks are."
