Tedisco Calls On Silver To Bring Assembly Back To Albany

Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady, Saratoga) today called on Speaker Sheldon Silver to bring his Majority conference back to the State Capitol on Monday, July 16th to complete unfinished business. Tedisco said his Minority conference is anxious to get back to work and pass property tax relief, a new Article X power plant siting law, a comprehensive Upstate Jobs plan, congestion pricing, a death penalty statute for cop killers, tougher penalties for habitual offenders and other issues.

"The 2007 legislative session started out with a bang but ended in a whimper. Let's get back to Albany and finish the people's work," said Tedisco.

While Gov. Spitzer and Sen. Bruno have been feuding, Tedisco said Speaker Silver is the one to blame for the failure to pass much of key issues unresolved.

"We had four-way agreements on many of the issues we discussed at the Leaders' meetings. We didn't have the Speaker. It's time the Speaker stops delaying and bring his conference back to work," said Tedisco.
