Statement by Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco Regarding the Hevesi Resignation

"I am satisfied by today's resolution to this unfortunate situation. A Comptroller swears an oath to expose and fight the fraudulent misuse of taxpayers' dollars and Mr. Hevesi compromised his ability to fulfill his duties in that role by committing the very same type of abuse that he was elected to fight. By many measures Mr. Hevesi did a decent job as Comptroller, but he irretrievably lost credibility with his actions and in turn would have lost effectiveness in continuing in his job as the state's top fiscal watchdog. Now we must move on, and I look forward to an open and transparent process where we can publicly vet and ultimately select a candidate with the qualifications and integrity to ascend to this most critical statewide position."
